🗺 Mapping State Abortion Bans

On June 24th, the Supreme Count overruled Roe v. Wade. Since then, here is what happened.

On June 24th, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, eliminating the constitutional right to abortion and creating uncertainty about access to abortion in over 20 states.

And, interestingly, 62% of the US disagreed with the decision, per Pew Research.

In response to Roe v. Wade being overturned, state governments and pro-abortion rights activists have been implementing bans and filing lawsuits. Interstate abortion criminalization and data privacy laws have been…. confusing, at best.

However, not everything has to be hard to track. Healthcare Dive created an interactive map to help you track:

  • Changing abortion laws by state

  • Abortion ban type

  • The amount of weeks into a pregnancy after which abortion is prohibited

Abortion laws are classified as legal, illegal, or legal but awaiting a ban. Illegal status means abortion is banned before the fetal viability line established by Roe v. Wade.

🚨 GoodRx has a new CEO - for now

Out with the old and in with the new. GoodRx ousts it co-CEOs and hired ex-GoDaddy CEO, Scott Wagner.

GoodRx, a California-based digital health company that offers prescription drug discounts and other health services, is swapping out their CEO(s). On April 26th, the company's co-CEOs, Trevor Bezdek and Doug Hirsch, announced they are stepping down from their roles.

Are they leaving the company? No.

Bezdek will become chairman of the board, while Hirsch will become Chief Mission Officer. GoodRx has temporarily appointed Scott Wagner as the interim CEO.

Wagner is a former CEO of internet domain registrar GoDaddy, and a former partner at investment firm KKR. Wagner is a board member of several tech companies, including online fundraising platform GoFundMe.

Why did the CEOs decide to step down? Great question.

  • The stock price fell from a peak of over $56 / share in February 2021 to $5.48 / share as of April 26th, 2022

  • In 2021, reported losses were $25.3m, while in 2022 that increased to $32.8m

  • From 2021 to 2022, revenue grew 2.82%

To top it off, GoodRx is facing regulatory scrutiny. Earlier this year, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) fined the company $1.5 million for allegedly sharing users' health information with advertisers - without consent. The FTC banned GoodRx from sharing consumers' health data with third parties without their consent.
